The United States has developed giant wind turbines that are taller than the Eiffel Tower

According to media reports, a university research institute in the United States is designing and developing a 50-megawatt
(MW, megawatt) turbine wind generator, which turbine blades as long as 20 meters. If completed, the turbines would be
taller than the Eiffel Tower in France.
The research and development agency for the project called segmented Segmented Ultralight Morphing Rotor is a
researcher at the university of Virginia. In 2015, the project received a three-year, more than $3.5 million grant from the
Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy.
Eric Loth, a researcher at the university of Virginia, said: "it's incredibly challenging because it's so large. In this respect, no
other project I've done in the past 30 years has been so challenging”. And he redered that, metal injection molding parts might be used in wind turbines. 
According to the Global Wind Energy Council, offshore wind farms installed in 14 markets have generated more than 14
million megawatts of power.
The SUMR project is ambitious. On its website, the team said the full implementation of the project would represent "a
significant progress in maximizing the use of U.S. offshore wind resources." In the us, offshore wind power is still in its
infancy. It wasn't until the end of 2016 that the first offshore wind farm in the U.S. coast of Rhode Island began commercial
operations.
