The importance of MIM mould and how to improve its quality

In manufacturing industry, mold is a common tool, known as "the mother of industry".In recent years, with the rise and
prosperity of metal injection molding (MIM), a new type of parts forming process, more and more attention has been paid to
the molds used in this process.
The design of MIM mold structure plays a very important role in the injection molding parts. In the case that other process
conditions are consistent, high-quality mold can improve the forming quality and comprehensive performance of
parts.Therefore, for MIM mold production enterprises, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the impact factors of
injection mold, and actively improve the quality of the mold.
To improve the quality of mould, we can start from the selection of mould materials, the usability of mould structure, the
safety performance and the maintainability of mould parts.Because the mold is a tool with many different mold parts, some of
them need to be replaced frequently.Therefore, mold manufacturers need to pay special attention to mold maintainability
design.
The selection of MIM mold materials should meet the quality requirements of customers as far as possible, and take into
account the material cost and material strength.The selection of MIM mold materials needs to be based on the nature of
powder materials to be injected by customers, and the mold materials with less affinity with the products should be selected as
far as possible to prevent the adhesion of mold to aggravate the wear of mold parts, thus affecting the quality of the mold and
the product demodelling effect.
In addition to working hard on the material, to improve the quality of MIM mould, we should pay attention to the
maintainability of the mould from the link of mould structure design.Mold structure design, as far as possible compact
structure, easy to operate, but also to ensure that the mold parts have enough strength and stiffness.
When the die structure allows, the corner of each surface of the die parts should be designed as rounded as possible to avoid
stress concentration.For concave die, cavity and part of punch, core, can use combination or Mosaic structure to eliminate
stress concentration, slender punch or core, in the structure should take appropriate protection measures.
For injection molds, devices should be provided to prevent blockages of parts or waste materials (e.g., bullet pin, compressed
air, etc.).At the same time, we should consider how to reduce the influence of sliding fitting parts and frequent impingement
parts on the quality of die.
In the design, it is necessary to reduce the range of disassembly during the maintenance of a certain part, especially the
replacement of vulnerable parts.
